There is something special about getting up before most and beating the hustle and bustle of the city to catch the sunrise. Finding a scenic spot to watch the sky light up with vibrant colors – some would say it’s the perfect start to the day. 1. Milford Beach
If you have not seen a sunrise at the beach yet you are missing out! Milford beach is a 15-minute drive from Auckland CBD and a great place to watch the sunrise in Auckland. Watch as the sun rises from behind Rangitoto Island and lights up the beach with a golden hue. It inspires us to get out of bed earlier just writing about it. 2. Mount Eden
As popular as Mount Eden is for the sunset, the sunrise is just as good. Get up nice and early and make your way up to the top of Mount Eden. Take in the 360-degree view of Auckland City and enjoy the first light of the day. Be sure to hang around as long as you can to catch the sunrise. To reward yourself for getting up early grab some breakfast and a coffee at one of the many great cafes in Mount Eden. You’ll be waking up for every sunrise in Auckland after this!

3. Westhaven Marina
Auckland is often referred to as the City of Sails and the Westhaven Marina is the heart of it all. It is also a great place to watch the sunrise in Auckland. Why not combine your morning workout with a brilliant view? Walk, cycle, run along the harbour and watch as vibrant colors illuminate the sky. As the sun rises from the horizon the reflection of yachts and lights is incredible. Definitely a place to see the sunrise in Auckland.

5. Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill
This sunrise is a bit more of a challenge but justified by the reward of incredible views. Get up nice and early and head to the Summit of One Tree Hill to catch one of the BEST sunrises in Auckland. You will be rewarded with a 360-degree view as the sky lights up with incredible colors and cloud formations. So much achieved before your day has even started! You will not regret the early morning wake up for a view like this!
