Hello Sunday is everything you want out of a good cafe. They have an enticing brunch menu, a funky space and an approach that brings people together. Every day feels like Sunday at this Christchurch cafe. Check out their colourful french toast!

3. Addington Coffee Co-op

Of all the cafes in Christchurch, this is one that you absolutely must visit! Addington Coffee Co-op redistributes 70% of their profits back to the local community and to some of the producers and communities overseas that create the products they sell. The cafe is on point, with high ceilings and big wooden tables. They have a coffee roastery on site called Jailbreaker. The Addington Store is in the front corner of the cafe, selling locally produced, ethically traded and environmentally friendly products. Oh, and their food is delicious!

4. Miro

Miro is centrally located on Oxford Terrace, and they claim to serve the best Bloody Mary’s in town! They’ve got all your favourites on the menu, all with added boosts of goodness. Their food is beautifully presented and tastes even better. They also do bottomless brunch! This is one of the cafes in Christchurch that will slide nicely into your Instagram feed.

5. Posh Porridge

Posh Porridge is a local hotspot. It’s a small cafe space, but takeaways are where it’s at. From delicious bowls of fancy porridge, to loaded toast, to really good coffee, this is the kind of cafe that you’ll keep going back to. Posh Porridge feature plenty of local goodies like amazing bread from Grizzly Baked Goods. You’ll also find these guys at the Christchurch Farmers Market on Saturday’s.

Little Poms are all about tasty, free range and seasonal food, using delicious locally sourced produce. They’re serving up freshly baked scones each day – who doesn’t love the smell of fresh baking in the morning! Try their ricotta blueberry hotcake!

7. Joe’s Garage

Joe’s Garage are popping up in different locations around New Zealand, and their Christchurch sites are just as good as the others. Mainly cooking with hot plates, they don’t do poached eggs. They serve up killer scrambled and fried eggs instead. Simple, quality breakfast and lunch food that won’t disappoint. They’re also open for dinner!

8. Unknown Chapter Coffee Roasters

Unknown Chapter are a coffee roastery and cafe who are ticking all the boxes. They are roasting their coffee on site and using coffee that’s traceable back to the farmer. The team then follow through with beautiful brews served hot, that go well with their wholesome brunch menu. These guys are also the kings of good cabinet food, so it’s the perfect go-to for a takeaway coffee and sweet treat too!

Park Ranger are all about produce, and quality produce at that. They have a seasonally driven menu with premium, often hand-picked, ingredients. Wholesome food, good coffee and great people are what you can expect from this Christchurch cafe. This is one of those cafes that you’ll want to spend some time in. Sit outside in their courtyard, try some sweet treats and drink a lot of coffee!

10. Black & White Coffee Cartel

Black & White Coffee Cartel has solidified its place in the cafes in Christchurch scene. It’s a totally funky space that is sticking to small batch roasting to keep your coffee fresh. The bustling city of Christchurch is where it all started for BWCC, and they now have a location in Queenstown as well.

There are a number of really good cafes in Christchurch, and this one is a crowd favourite. Tucked into the corner of New Regent Street in Christchurch Central, it’s a go-to for locals for their early morning or midday caffeine fix.
