1. Oriental Bay

Oriental Bay is one of the most scenic suburbs in town! A good spot for a swim with tropical looking white sand and inviting blue water. Go for a stroll, take a dip or sit back and relax. Up the hill and overlooking the bay is where you want to be to snap a dreamy shot.

2. Mount Victoria Lookout

Get out of the hustle and bustle and see Wellington from above! 196 metres above the city to be exact! Mount Victoria Lookout provides impressive views of the city and harbour. Watch the planes flying in and out of the airport, bring a picnic along or hang around to watch the sunset.

3. Castlepoint Lighthouse

Although not in Wellington exactly, it’s worth the road trip if you’ve got the time! A very Instagrammable spot, with rugged coastline and a boardwalk leading towards the lighthouse. Camera or phone in hand, enjoy the Lighthouse walk through Castlepoint Scenic Reserve. Keep an eye out for New Zealand fur seals along the way.

4. Scorching Bay

Scorching Bay Beach is a 20-minute drive from Wellington central; a lovely coastal drive that takes you past many small beaches. It’s a fairly sheltered bay and has a cool little cafe just across the road. This spot is even more stunning when the Pōhutukawa trees are in full bloom.

5. Wellington City

The city is compact, making it easy to walk everywhere. Take some time out to wander the streets, checking out the awesome street art, funky cafes and colourful buildings. Start the day with a walk along the waterfront and enjoy the foodie spots and night markets after dark.

6. Te Papa

Te Papa or ‘Our Place’ is New Zealand’s National Museum and is a core part of the city, and one you don’t want to miss. It’s intriguing, interactive and perfect for an afternoon activity. Te Papa often has new exhibits so you each time you visit, you have a unique experience.

7. Cuba Street

In the heart of the city is Cuba Street, your go-to for bold buildings and fascinating street art. There’s no shortage of cafe’s, bars and restaurants – this is even the street to head to for night markets each Friday and Saturday. Get amongst those bohemian vibes and explore Cuba Street!
