Once in a Lifetime Overnight Experience at Hobbiton

3 MIN READ

Attention all Middle-earth fans – the opportunity to experience Hobbiton overnight has arrived! For the first time ever The Millhouse at Hobbiton will be open for bookings in 2023 via Airbnb. Bookings are scarce, with only three reservations up for grabs. That’s three very lucky groups of fans, able to experience the life of Hobbits.

The Shire is calling to three groups of very lucky people to enjoy a very special stay. Wake up in the rolling hills of the Waikato region and immerse yourself in a world created by J. R. R. Tolkien. It’s a five-star experience with all the lavish touches you hope for from an overnight stay, but more importantly, it has all the quirks and character the diehard LOTR superfans will be after.

A total of three bookings will be available, for stays in 2023. Each booking is for a two-night stay for up to four guests. The bedding configuration is one queen bed and another two beds. Bookings go live on Airbnb on the 14th of December 2022 at 10 am.

This is an authentic experience with real props from the films and guest rooms designed by Brian Massey; the art director of the film ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’. Live like Bilbo Baggins for two nights with a flickery fireplace, charming furniture and whimsical knick-knacks. There’ll be access to various Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn and The Millhouse. These famous locations will have fans swooning as they embark on their very own journey to Middle-earth.

It’s the 10-year anniversary of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ in December 2022, so in a magical twist these bookings are only costing $10 each! Guests will also enjoy a feast fit for Hobbits in The Green Dragon Inn, breakfasts and afternoon teas and even a private tour of the entire Movie Set.

Fortunately, you don’t have to have hairy feet and short stature to indulge in this experience. The two bedrooms have ‘full-sized’ beds and every detail has been considered to ensure a comfortable sleep. Though the lucky souls who stay may be less focused on the luxurious linen and more drawn to Gandalf’s sword and Bilbo’s pipe!
